The iFi GO blu offers impressive sound quality and features in a compact design, making it an excellent choice for mobile audio enthusiasts.

The iFi GO blu is a striking combination of aesthetics and advanced audio features, showcasing iFi Audio's commitment to quality. This mobile DAC/Amp isn't just about looks; it's equipped with several EQ presets that enhance your listening experience. Moreover, its ability to update over the air ensures that you can keep up with emerging Bluetooth codecs, positioning the GO blu as a solid long-term investment for audio lovers.
Price and Availability
The iFi GO blu is available for $200 from ifi-audio.com and on Amazon. For those who want added convenience, consider the $29 GO blu case that features a clip, designed to easily attach to your clothing, ensuring the mic is closer to your mouth for clearer calls.
Build and Fit
In terms of size, the GO blu is compact—comparable to a 9V battery—making it one of the smallest DAC/Amps packed with this level of sophistication. The exterior is made of soft-touch polymer, complemented by stylish copper accents. One standout feature is the ChronoDial on the side, which offers precise analog volume control along with playback and call management through simple clicks. Below, multiple buttons allow you to switch EQ presets, pair Bluetooth devices, and access various functions.
On its top, the device has an LED indicator to display EQ selections, Bluetooth connection status, and digital filter modes. Headphone outputs include a balanced 4.4mm and a S-Balanced 3.5mm, while the bottom houses indicators for battery life, a microphone, and a USB port supporting both charging and audio playback up to 24-bit/96kHz.
The left side contains the power button, which announces the current Bluetooth mode when pressed twice, along with controls for voice alerts. Everything about the GO blu is designed for a fulfilling user experience: the buttons are tactile, the USB-C port feels sturdy, and all necessary labels are clearly etched, making it user-friendly despite its extensive functionality.
Features
The features of the GO blu are impressive, offering three preset modes: XBass, XSpace, and XBass + XSpace. XBass enhances low frequencies, XSpace expands the soundstage, and the combined mode allows for an immersive listening experience. Though I personally wish for greater control over bass enhancement, the existing presets provide a noticeable improvement.
Importantly, the 3.5mm output employs a balanced circuit to deliver clarity and minimize noise—something uncommon in DACs within this price range. The GO blu is powered by Qualcomm’s QCC5100 chip along with a Cirrus Logic 43131, allowing for support of advanced codecs like aptX Adaptive, LDAC, and others. Plus, the device includes call functionality with active noise cancellation, enhancing usability when taking calls, especially with hands-free convenience.
Battery life impresses as well, rated at about 10 hours, and a quick charge feature enables you to fully recharge in just 40 minutes using a 6.3V charger.
Sound Quality
But let's get to the crux: how does it sound? I tested the GO blu using both the 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs, and whether wired or via Bluetooth, the audio quality elevates the experience significantly. Using a mix of sensitive IEMs and high-res headphones from brands like 1MORE, Campfire Audio, and Sennheiser, the output delivered exceptional fidelity.
For Bluetooth, I paired the GO blu with a Pixel 7 Pro, employing the LDAC codec. The result? A remarkable dynamic range, though iPhone users won’t miss out—AAC still provides satisfying sound quality. Wired connections open the door to high-resolution audio options, such as Apple Music lossless, yielding fantastic soundscapes for tracks like Paul Simon's “Diamonds on the Souls of Her Shoes.”
The overall sound signature remains balanced and neutral, complemented by the XBass feature for those who crave a little extra low-end. The 4.4mm output shines with headphones that are naturally neutral, producing bright highs and a smooth overall listening experience, where you rarely need to push your phone's volume past 75% for satisfying listening levels.
Competition
In the competitive space of portable DAC/Amps, it's interesting to note that iFi's Zen DAC 3 shares a similar price point, yet it's larger and more suited for stationary use. The FiiO BTR7 shows capabilities close to the GO blu, though it lacks calling mics and has less battery life. However, the FiiO has an app offering an adjustable parametric EQ that the GO blu doesn’t feature.
Then there’s the Qudelix 5k, which is priced at $100 less. While it may not match the expansive soundstage of the GO blu, it offers strong capabilities with an impressive app featuring extensive EQ options. Given my personal experience, I've purchased the Qudelix for daily use while also eyeing the GO blu for its features and quality.
Should You Buy It?
Consider the iFi GO blu if:
- You seek an excellent multi-source DAC/Amp
- You desire impressive audio performance at a fair price
- You require sufficient battery life for daily use
However, it might not be for you if:
- You want parametric EQ options
- You’re on a tight budget
The iFi GO blu represents an extraordinary option for those wanting high-quality sound in a compact form. Its versatility and sound quality make it a worthwhile addition to any audiophile’s kit.
